Handmade in India: Why It Matters
Every piece in our collection is made by hand, in small batches, by women working in their own time and on their own terms. That decision shapes everything else about how the brand operates.
Handmade is slower and less predictable than manufacturing. It also means the person who made the piece is a real person, whose income depends on it, and who chose the colours because they liked them.
Working this way changes what a collection looks like. Batches are small, and when a design sells out it may be a while before it returns, or it may return slightly different. That is not a shortfall in the process — it is the process. Two pairs of the same earrings made a month apart will not be identical, and the variation is part of what separates a handcrafted piece from something stamped out a thousand at a time.
Materials matter here too. Choosing eco-friendly threads and reclaimed components takes more sourcing effort and costs more per unit, but it keeps the finished piece light, wearable and considerably less wasteful than the alternative. Lightweight construction is not only an environmental choice — it is the reason these earrings can be worn all day without discomfort.
There is a wider purpose behind the work as well. A portion of every purchase supports education for blind girls, which means the pieces carry something beyond their design. It is a small mechanism, but a consistent one, and it grows as the brand does.
None of this is visible in a product photograph. It shows up in the weight of a piece in your hand, in the neatness of the stitching, and in the fact that someone made a decision about every part of it. That is what we mean when we say handmade.
